The Brotherhood Underground

The Curve, Volume 4.1, 2014 – It’s becoming rarer and rarer to see men admitting to ditching date night or daddy duty to play poker, down beers, tinker in the shed, or generally revel in being “one of the guys.” Sure, there’s no shortage of barbershops, cigar bars, and shaving stations, but these new renditions of classic men’s clubs have shifted from Main Street, USA, to trendy urban enclaves like Silver Lake, Los Angeles, and are more hipster hangout than mainstream mainstay. This doesn’t mean that male bonding is gone for good; it’s just gone underground.
